Jackets: For When the Hoodie Surrenders

At some point the hoodie surrenders and the jacket takes over. On the European Atlantic that point arrives early, stays late, and occasionally drops in for August.

Our mens jackets cover the full hostile spectrum: coach jackets for wind, padded layers for the parking lot in January, corduroy and workwear cuts for everything in between. Built for the surf check, dressed for everything after it. Layer over a flannel and you are weatherproof to roughly Scotland.

      How to Choose a Jacket

Be honest about your weather. A coach jacket or windbreaker handles the Biscay wind that ruins clean mornings; a padded or sherpa-lined jacket handles the actual cold of a North Sea winter or a 5am start in Ireland. In between sit the corduroys, canvas workwear cuts and overshirt hybrids that do most of the European year on their own. Size to layer: a jacket that only fits over a tee is a jacket for half the calendar.

      What Is in the Range

Coach jackets, padded and quilted builds, sherpa collars, corduroy and canvas workwear silhouettes, plus water-resistant shells for the drizzle that Ireland calls weather. Pockets are deep and numerous because surf trips generate objects. The styling stays clean enough for the city, which matters when the same jacket does Tuesday in Paris and Saturday at Peniche.

      Why Vissla

We design jackets around the rhythm of cold-water surfing: drive, check, wait, surf, recover, repeat. That means wind resistance where it counts, linings that earn their warmth claims, and durability tested by van life rather than mood boards. A surf brand that ignored jackets would be ignoring most of the European year, and we are too fond of the European year for that.

Winter is long. Your excuses should not be.
