      Walkshorts: For Everything Between Surfs

Walkshorts are the short for everything that happens between surfs, which in Europe is most of life. Coffee in Hossegor, the long lunch in San Sebastian, the ferry to wherever the forecast says.

Ours are cut clean enough for the restaurant and tough enough for the skate to the bakery, with stretch fabrics and an above-the-knee line that does not need defending. Boardshorts get the glory. Walkshorts do the work. There is also an elastic waist version for the fully committed.

      How to Choose Walkshorts

Decide between fixed waist and elastic first. Fixed waist gives you the sharper, more tailored silhouette that survives a nice dinner; elastic waist gives you comfort that survives one. Then pick your fabric: cotton twill and canvas for structure, stretch blends for travel days and long drives down the Portuguese coast. Length is settled science here, above the knee, no debate entered into.

      What Is in the Range

Mens walkshorts in twills, cords and stretch weaves, from clean chino-style cuts to harder-wearing utility builds. Several carry the same eco fabric thinking as our boardshorts, because there is no rule that land clothes get to be lazy about it. Pockets are deep, hems are finished, and the colors run from sand and olive to navy, which is to say, the colors of actually getting dressed.

      Why Vissla

Surf brands tend to treat land clothing as an afterthought, a thing to print logos on. We cut our walkshorts with the same attention as our boardshorts, because the people who wear them spend ten months a year out of the water and deserve better than a souvenir. These are shorts for the European summer that starts in May, collapses under tourist load in August, and quietly redeems itself in September.

The lineup is crowded. The cafe is not. Dress for both.
