7 Seas Wetsuits: The Workhorse Europe Actually Surfs In
Every car park from Peniche to the Baltic has a 7 Seas hanging off a wing mirror. There is a reason. This is the Vissla workhorse: full thermal lining, sealed seams, and stretch that suits twice the price would not be embarrassed by. No exotic claims. No exotic price.
From 3/2 fulls for the Iberian shoulder seasons to hooded cold water builds for the grim months, chest zip and back zip, the 7 Seas is the wetsuit Europe actually surfs in.
The 7 Seas Wetsuit: Maximum Rubber per Euro
Some surfers want the lightest suit ever built. Most surfers want a warm, durable wetsuit that does not require financing. The 7 Seas is for the second group, which is to say nearly everyone. You get high stretch neoprene through the shoulders, a fast drying thermal lining through the chest and back, and glued and blindstitched seams that survive being put on wet at 7am in November. It is the suit Vissla sells the most of in Europe because it solves the actual problem: staying warm without spending High Seas money.
Choosing Your 7 Seas Thickness
A 7 Seas 3/2 covers Portugal, Spain, and southwest France from roughly May to November, water in the 15 to 20°C band. The 4/3 is the Biscay winter answer, comfortable from about 10 to 15°C. For the North Sea, Ireland, or any water that makes you gasp, take the hooded 5/4 and add boots from the cold water accessories range.
Chest Zip or Back Zip
Chest zip seals better and flushes less when a Hossegor set lands on your head. Back zip is faster to get in and out of and kinder to tired shoulders. The 7 Seas comes both ways. Pick your suffering.
